NotMoMA is a social practice project created by artist Stephanie Syjuco, that asks participants to reproduce work from the MoMA's permanent collection out of materials they have on hand. We were brought on to the Portland iteration of the NotMoMA project by curator, Libby Werbel, who needed a producer, specifically for public outreach and project management, and then expanded to include a public panel discussion about the role of social practice and documentation of the project, which was used in the satellite exhibition at c3:initiative in St. Johns.

We took on public outreach and collaboration with students and teachers in Portland Public Schools, helping with everything from garnering interest, to support in understanding the goals of the project and the original artworks, to the logistics of gathering materials. The works were installed in the Portland Art Museum and presented as part of the exhibition series, We.Construct.Marvels.Between.Monuments, as the major work for two months during Summer 2018.

The Portland Art Museum created a moving video featuring interviews with the youth we partnered with to produce the project.
